This year I was able to attend the annual BioNexus dinner and represented a piece called "Turbulent Tunnels" by Kristopher Shumacher of MRI Global. I explained the art (pictured right) to guests. It is a computer imaging of particle motion in one of the world's largest wind tunnels.
This event showed me yet another tie between science and art and was an amazing opportunity to speak to researchers and professors.
No matter what the Federal Emergency Management Agency does, people do not heed natural disaster evacuation warnings. At the "Most Entrepreneurial City in America" competition, my group came up with the “E.M.M. Program.” We decided that to successfully reach citizens, FEMA had to Educate, Motivate, and Mobilize civilians in a way that assured them shelter was waiting. We also found ways for this program to protect those without phones or homes, through a Neighbor Program that would require citizens to check in with those near to them. We eagerly presented what we had come up with and came in first place. MECA Challenge helped me realize that I can solve the big problems that face society today, but I need the help of a team for my ideas to reach their full potential.
